Simple Shell #

This is a simple UNIX shell program built in C. Supported built-in commands are listed below, otherwise this shell is capable of searching for and executing programs on the PATH.

Features #

cd - built-in to change directory

cd [DIRECTORY]

env - built-in to print the current environment

env

exit - built-in to exit the shell

exit

Installation #

Simply clone the repo below and compile!

Environment #

Created and tested with Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

Compiled with GCC 4.8.4 with flags: -Wall -Werror -Wextra -pedantic -std=gnu89

gcc -Wall -Werror -Wextra -pedantic -std=gnu89 *.c

Usage #

peytonbrsmith@penguin:~/simple_shell$ ./a.out
($) /bin/ls

Project Status #

Checked using Valgrind. No known memory leaks or bugs.

Currently there are no plans to continue working on the simple shell after completion of the project.
